In recent years, the price of feed raw materials has continued to rise, and the price of breeding products has been on the low side for a long time, causing great pressure and impact on the feed and breeding industry. In this context, the application of biological enzyme preparation can effectively improve the digestibility of animals on feed, achieve grain saving and loss reduction, respond to the new requirements of green and environmental protection at home and abroad, while bringing significant cost reduction and efficiency increase for the industry, resulting in huge social and economic benefits. At this conference, VTR launched 3 new strategic agricultural and animal husbandry products, including acid xylanase, aquatic phytase and Kafos, covering the fields of livestock and poultry, aquatic products and ruminants.

Dr. Xu Shude gave a report
First of all, Dr. Xu Shude, Technical Director of Aquatic Technology, VTR, gave a report titled the Feasibility Study on the Direct Addition of Aquatic Phytase to Extruded Materials, in which discussion was made from three perspectives, that is, the bottleneck and current situation of enzyme application in aquatic feed, the application of aquatic phytase in aquatic feed and the feasibility of the direct addition of solid enzyme to extruded materials. Aquatic phytase was first promoted by VTR in 2014, which has been widely recognized by the industry as a neutral phytase used in aquatic feed.
A series of experiments and data show that VTR aquatic phytase features extremely high economic value, social value and nutritional value. On the one hand, the current price of aquatic feed raw materials has risen sharply. When the price of calcium dihydrogen phosphate is at a high level (RMB 5000/t), the cost of ordinary fresh water submerged feed can be saved for at least RMB 30/t by adding and using aquatic phytase, and at least RMB 25/t after the cost of filling material is deducted. On the other hand, from the perspective of environmental protection, the total phosphorus content in the water of the experimental pond added with aquatic phytase is significantly reduced by 0.08 ppm and 40%, which can greatly reduce the phosphorus pollution in the water. From the perspective of nutrition, the product can also effectively eliminate anti-nutritional factors and improve the digestibility. Finally, Dr. Xu enumerated the feasibility schemes for the application of aquatic phytase, saying that when the price of calcium dihydrogen phosphate is at a relatively high level, the addition and use of aquatic phytase can significantly reduce cost and increase efficiency.

Subsequently, Dr. Peng Yu, Manager of the Functional Additive Research Department, VTR, gave a report titled “Innovation and Application of Acidic Xylanase Products”. The innovation of VTR acidic xylanase products lies in the improvement of low pH activity through directional evolution. After several rounds of high-throughput screening, for acidic xylanase, the activity of pH3.0>65%, the activity of pH3.5>75%, the stability of pH3.0 >75%, and the stability of pH3.5>90%.
The use of acidic xylanase in wheat raw materials can significantly reduce the viscosity of broiler chime, improve the utilization of energy and protein, and increase the proportion of use of wheat raw materials in broiler feed, while it was found in the study of porker, that the use of complex enzyme containing acidic xylanase can improve the production performance and reduce the feed-meat ratio on the original basis. In the daily ration of maize, rice and sorghum, the application of acidic xylanase focuses more on improving animal intestinal health and antioxidant performance. Studies have shown that acidic xylanase exerts a significant effect on the growth performance of young animals and improves the antioxidant capacity of intestinal tract and liver of young animals.
Dr. Peng concluded with citing the examples of applications from customers, demonstrating that the use of acidic xylanase products can exert a positive effect in reducing the cost of meat production, improving energy utilization and improving the input/output ratio.

Dr. Xie Xiangxue, General Manager of the Ruminant Department, VTR, gave a report titled “The Application of New Biological Agents in Ruminants -- Kafos S-7001”, which first introduced the key problems that need to be solved in the utilization of nutrients in ruminants, that is, the fiber digestibility of the whole digestive tract and the digestibility of protein are low; The digestibility is lower than 85% when the content of cornstarch is relatively high; The diarrhea rate of calves and high-yield dairy cows remains high. Therefore, at present, the industry urgently needs to further improve the utilization of fiber; Slow down the subacute or acute acidosis caused by the rapid degradation of starch in the rumen, and enhance the utilization of starch in intestinal tract; It is necessary to improve the utilization of post-rumen protein, and alleviate the diarrhea rate of calves and high-yield dairy cows.
At present, conventional additive products for ruminants in the market mainly focus on the rumen, and only the utilization of roughage – fiber is considered, while VTR Kafos S-7001 not only considers rumen, but also considers intestinal tract, not only focuses on fiber, but also focuses on starch and protein. By adopting the scheme of rumen + intestinal tract, digestion + absorption, and using the combination of compound microecology + compound enzyme preparation, the digestibility of cellulose, the digestibility of starch in the whole digestive tract and the post-rumen digestibility of protein are significantly improved, and the functions of rumen and intestinal tract of ruminants are significantly improved, thus the absorption of nutrients is improved. Kafos is a new generation of biological agents dedicated to ruminants, with two patents granted, and another two patents under review. This product has advantages that other similar products in the market do not have. Through the cases and detailed data of nearly 30 large-scale pastures at home and abroad, Dr. Xie further showed that VTR Kafos can significantly improve the production performance of ruminants in pastures, effectively improve the economic benefits of pastures, and bring substantial income to pastures.

In addition to the development of raw materials of protein and energy, how to improve the utilization of phosphorus in feed is also the key to the development of the feed industry in the future, including the reduction of the pollution of phosphorus to the environment. The use of phytase will effectively improve the utilization of phosphorus and reduce the use of calcium dihydrogen phosphate. In the future, economic benefits, environmental benefits and social benefits will be guaranteed mainly through technological innovation, policy guidance and the formulation of relevant laws in the industry.

It is believed that with the rapid development of the feed enzyme preparation technology, high-tech enzyme preparation enterprises are constantly developing a variety of xylanase and other enzyme preparation products. In the future, the so-called unconventional feed raw materials can be turned into conventional feed raw materials.
